This is the link to my page and from there you can click on other links to find my work. I will also not be checking and posting posts on my blog as much as we are concentrating more on our E Portfolios for a while.

Still feel free to leave comments on my blog as I will reply to them. You just might want to read some older posts and leave comments on them!  So click here and along the side are names of other students in my class; you can also look at their work.

Busy as bees…

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:09 pm by Alex

It is week 6 already of Term 3 and tomorrow we have Teachers Only Day. We finally get to relax! Yes, that’s right, we have been busy as bees. Last term we had the Little Stars production which took up a lot of every bodies time but was a great hit and some nights were sold out, normal school work like maths and english,  and I  had an extra week off school as I went skiing in Queenstown which was also heaps of fun but tiring.

We have had quite a busy term so far and even though lot’s of fun things are coming up, I am still looking forward to the end of the year. We have both the Ski Trips leaving in a couple of weeks. I am taking part in Ski Trip 1 and I bet it is going to be as much fun as last year! Hopefully the weather will be better. We have the Belmont Disco next week. So far, things sound great and exciting.

At the moment our class has been working on our E Portfolios, not to forget speeches! I have been caught up in maths and English but for s0me reason it feels like there’s heaps of work I need to finish but I’ve finished everything due, I hope…

Tomorrow I will be  going to a friends house and I haven’t really caught up with her for a while. How is things going at your school? What exciting things have you been up to? Leave a comment and tell me everything!

Jump Jam Leadership Day

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:58 am by Alex

Yesterady, aproximately 25 students from Te Awamutu Intermediate School went to the Jump Jam Leadership Day programme that was held at Te Awamutu Primary school. Once all the other schools had arrived, Cindy, our instructor, introduced herself. That morning we discussed what skills you needed to be a Jump Jam leader. Lot’s of answers came back like, confidence, leadership, visual and verbal cues…We then discussed how we knew if we were confident or not. We got into groups and from there into partners and Cindy put on a Jumpjam song and one of us had to do the visual cues and then we swapped over. Next we did verbal cues. Once again we got into our groups, partnered off and danced to the Jump Jam song while giving verbal cues. After we had a lunch break, Cindy taught us all the new Jump Jam songs including, I like to move it, Dancing Queen, Funky town, I want it all, 4 minutes, We rock and Boogie Wonderland. While we were learning Funky town, Cindy asked if anyone knew the song really well. Straight away Nicky (click on Nicky’s name to access her blog) and I put our hands up and we got to do the Jump Jam song with Cindy on the stage. It was heaps of fun and I learnt lot’s of new skills. Now when I am leading a Jump J am song, I will know when to use verbal cues and I will most definitely be using visual cues, like pointing backwards just before we walk back. Hopefully, everyone won’t be dumb enough to point backwards along with me….LOL. Jump Jam in A block (rooms 1, 2 and 3) will never be the same!

The man in black – Chapter 3 and 4

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:06 pm by Alex

Sorry it took me so long to put this on. I have been on holiday and the story was saved onto the desktop at school.

Chapter 3

Even though Hannah just had to drive a couple of blocks to get home, she didn’t get back until 9.30. Since they didn’t want to make it obvious that they had followed Hannah, they played along with the whole ‘party’ scheme. The folder was what made Kristy, Florence, Paige and Courtney really suspicious. They wanted to know what it was for but they knew they couldn’t just ask Hannah for it. So the next morning while Hannah was having a shower, Kristy snuck into Hannah’s room to find it. The room was reasonably tidy so she thought finding it would be easy. She checked everywhere trying not to make a mess but Kristy just couldn’t find it. Suddenly she could hear voices talking. She pressed her ear against the door. ‘I need to speak to Hannah!’ Kristy heard a man say. ‘Why?’ Florence was repeating, ‘Why do you want to see her?’ ‘Just tell me where she is!’ He shouted. Everyone went quiet. He sounded angry and by the sounds of things no one wanted to mess with him. ‘Sh-she-she’s in the b-bathroom’ Paige stuttered. He walked to the bathroom and banged on the door. ‘Hannah! Get out here NOW!’

Chapter 4

Inside the bathroom, Hannah froze. She gulped and quickly pulled her clothes on, took a deep breath and opened the door a crack. She saw a man with a big build and a moustache. ‘Billy!’ She whispered, surprised. She opened the door completely and he grabbed her. Hannah started to scream and all the girls came running. ‘Help me!’ She screamed. ‘Tell me where the folder is!’ He bellowed in her ear. ‘But you gave it to me!’ She protested. ‘I – want – it- back!’ He said with clenched teeth. ‘Okay,’ She whispered, near tears. She slowly walked to her room, Billy breathing down her neck. Hannah opened the door and gasped! ‘What are you doing Kristy?’ She shouted. Kristy turned around shocked. ‘Hurry up!’ Billy’s deep voice said again. Hannah pulled a black folder from underneath her mattress and handed it over to Billy. Without saying a word, he ran out of the house. Hannah sat on the bed, shocked with what had just happened.

Hi guys!

How has all your holidays been so far? Only 4 days left until we go back to school but lucky for me I get an extra week off school. Right now I am waiting in the departure lounge at Auckland Airport because our flight to Queenstown has just been delayed for an hour! We are all very excited to go to Queenstown because we have never been before. We are going to do lot’s of fun things like skiing and shopping. We are staying in a book-a-bach and the house looks really cosy. It is a 3 bedroom home and it has all he essentials like a kitchen and laundry. There is also a fire and a TV so we can watch it when we aren’t busy.

Last week we were in Whangamata and our dog Tammy got to stay the whole week with us. We went to Katikati on Wednesday to see my Great Grandma and Aunty Wendy. Then on Friday we went out for lunch at the RSA because it was Great Grandma’s birthday. Unfortunately I had an ear ache and felt really sick so I couldn’t enjoy the lunch as much. Since Sunday I have been in Rotorua with my Oma and Opa. Last night when we were driving home, they bought us some KFC for dinner. I have had lot’s of fun already and we are going to have lot’s more fun down South. The only thing that bothers me is that Tammy can’t come and I didn’t get to say goodbye to her.

Enjoy the rest of your Holidays!

Little Stars

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:44 am by Alex

This year I am lucky enough to be involved in TAI’s Production. It is called Little Stars and it is kind of like American Idol. Today we had a dress rehearsal. I really loved it. Since I am a back- up singer, I got my make up and hair done by one of the teachers. I was wearing foundation, purple eyeshadow with glitter on top and a plum lipstick. My hair was kind of puffy at the top and then the rest of it was in a pony tail. It looked really pretty along with my costume which is black shoes, black leggings, a pink skirt made from sequin-y material and a black Little Stars t-shirt. It is going to look really great on the night. Lot’s of people are involved in the production and even though I didn’t get a big role, it is still heaps of fun. Lot’s of people who didn’t audition for the production are really regretting it now. Next week we have 4 shows. A matinée and a night show on Tuesday and a night show on Wednesday and Thursday.

I think everyone should try to get involved in things in their school. You have more fun at school when you do things that you enjoy doing. Whether it is a sport, drama, choir, or a production, get your mates together and go for it! You will have heaps of fun especially with friends. So every now and then make a change in your comfort zone.

The man in black – Chapter 1 and 2

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:32 pm by Alex

Hey guys! I was stuck for ideas for a blog post, so I am writing a story I have made up. Here goes.

Chapter 1

Rain splattered down onto her head as she ran inside holding four envelopes.

“Any mail for me?” Asked Florence with a flourish of her hand as if she expected it.

“Uhhh,” Replied Kristy as she sorted through the mail, “No.”

“Whose it for then?” Florence asked with curiosity.

“Paige, Courtney, Courtney and er someone called Brianna. Who is Brianna? She doesn’t flat with us!” Kristy exclaimed.

“No ya don’t say?” Florence said sarcastically.

Kristy rolled her eyes then continued on wondering.

“But who could Brianna be, I mean we’ve never heard her name before,”

“Brianna,” Florence said as if she knew the name “isn’t that like the name Anna?” She thought out loud.

No ya don’t say!?” Kristy mimicked her.

Kristy and Florence walked into the lounge to show everyone else.

“What’s up?” Hannah asked seeing their blank confused faces.

“There’s a letter for someone called Brianna but we don’t know her,” Florence told her before Kristy could open her mouth.

“Umph!” Kristy moaned her arms crossed across her chest. She hated it when Florence would but in.

Hannah seemed to look nervous and seeing everyone looking at her, she snatched the letter off Kristy. “Lemme see that.” She mumbled, even though she already had the letter. She ripped it open and scanned it with her eyes.

Kristy, Florence, Paige and Courtney all crowded around Hannah and the letter and Paige read aloud:

Hi Bri, or should I say Hannah? Now that you’ve changed your name and started flatting you’re like a new person. So I don’t know what to call you! How are you? Me, I’m good. I really want to meet you. If you want to meet me, meet me at Fremington Road Park. Please. From me. 23, 9,08. 7,30. Weird. I mean Brianna sounds like Anna and Anna sounds like….. Hannah.” Paige turned to look at Hannah.

“God, it was a coincidence okay!?” Hannah yelled at Paige. “I’m not the only Hannah in the world!”

“Uh Yeah! We know that, okay?! The thing is you’ve just started flatting with us. It said that in the…..” Paige finished with a loss of words from the look on Hannah’s face.

Hannah looked hurt but furious at the same time. She marched out of the room and called without turning around, “Why won’t you believe me?”

“What was up with those numbers?” Courtney said without thinking.

This sent everyone in hysterics.

“What?” She asked but no one answered her and she began to laugh as well.

“Good question, wrong time,” Florence answered her after everyone had settled down.

“Um, what was up with those numbers?” Kristy said curiously.

“Well, when this person said where to meet him… or she… or whoever they didn’t say the time….or date.” Paige explained, “So 23,9,08 probably means um the 23rd of September, 2008 and 7,30 must mean uh 7.30? I think that’s what it means.”

“Do they think the letter was meant for Hannah?” Kristy asked.

“Yeah course. Did you see how nervous she looked when we said it was for someone called Brianna?” Florence said.

“What’s the date today?” Courtney asked.

“23rd of September, 2008.” Florence replied proudly. “Oh god! Hannah well Vienna or whoever is meeting that dude or dude-ess tonight.”

“Should we follow her?” Kristy asked everyone.

“Uh yeah, but then she’ll get all grumpy. You know what she’s like when she’s grumpy!” Florence replied.

Just then the door slammed.

“I heard that!” Hannah replied, her voice sounded like she had been crying.

Hannah came out of her room and instead of her makeup smearing down her face, she had put new makeup on and she said “I’m going out.”

“Where to?” Kristy asked interested.

“A party.” She replied.Hannah was wearing a black halter-neck top and white pants. It looked too casual for a party.  She looked at their suspicious faces and started to say something, stopped suddenly and then rushed out the door.

Chapter 2

‘What should we do?’ Kristy said. It was nearly 7.30 and they still hadn’t come up with an idea. They could follow her, but they really didn’t want to invade her privacy. As the clock turned from 7.29 to 7.30, Kristy grabbed her coat and headed for the door. ‘I’m following her. If she’s going to this so called ‘party’ I’m going as well.’ Everyone looked at each other for a while, shrugged and followed her.

Since Hannah didn’t say where the party was, they chose to go to Fremington road park first.  Trying to hide their selves from Hannah however, was difficult. They eventually decided to hide behind the toilets but they could still hear and see what was happening. Hannah was swinging on a swing trying to act natural. A man dressed in black turned up and Hannah immediately stopped swinging. She looked around to make sure no one was coming, and then she walked up to him. He handed her a folder, turned and left. Hannah was left holding the folder wondering what it was for. Kristy, Florence, Paige and Courtney snuck around the back of the toilets and then ran to the car.

Making the most of life!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:19 pm by Alex

Making the most of life. Those 5 words basically sum up me. I am an individual and proud of it. When I look at people, I don’t say ‘Oh, I wish I could look like that’, I am self confident in who I am. I wouldn’t change myself for anything in the world. I want to make the most of life and enjoy it while I have it. If you don’t take chances while they are in hand reaching distance, you will regret it. That chance may never show up again. Don’t worry about what other people think about you. As long as you have true friends and family who encourage you 100% of the way in whatever you want to do, you will be happy.  I decided to challenge everyone who reads this post. You must write a blog post about why you are happy being who you are.

It’s gonna get colder…

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:54 am by Alex

Last week, I found out that during the holidays we are going to Queenstown in the South Island. I had been begging mum and dad to go to Australia not just because it’s warmer but because I haven’t seen my cousins for a year. But they decided on Queenstown. Just when I thought its cold enough in Te Awamutu, it’s gonna be colder down in the South Island. Last night mum showed me a picture of the house we are staying in. It looks quite flash. There are 3 bedrooms, a fireplace, a TV and all the usual.  We might go skiing and of course we will go shopping! I am saving up and so far I have $84. Last year while we were going to the South Island, we landed in Queenstown but other than that I haven’t actually been into the main part of Queenstown. I also like doing new things and this is definitely different to what we usually do as a family. I’m really looking forard to it and I will write a blog post about it when I get back.

Gymnastics

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:24 pm by Alex

I have been doing gymnastics for about 3 years, probably even longer than that. In year 3 at Pokuru Primary school we started doing gymnastics for enrichment (tech arts) then every Friday we would practice and eventually pass a grade. Every year that was one of the things I would look forward to during enrichment. The grades go grade 1, grade 2, iron, bronze, silver, gold and elite star. I am on silver at the moment and could be on gold if I passed my silver badge last year. Last year I trialled for the Inter- Intermediate gymnastics team and I got in. I really want to get in this year as well. There’s just one problem. Inter- Intermediate gymnastics is next term, but I haven’t been allowed to doing any form of P.E since the start of this term because of my knee. It’s kind of a problem for me. Even though I’m not sporty like some girls in my class that do swimming, soccer, netball, touch rugby and lot’ s of sport like that. I do Jump jam, sailing, skiing and gymnastics. I do gymnastics twice a week, Jump jam once a week and now Jump jam activities are coming up in school like Jump jam leadership day, Jump jam once a week and 2 Jump jam competitions. I would like to do all of them but just one problem, my knee. I’m having Physiotherapy in a couple of weeks but until then I’m not sure I can do Jump jam or any sport. I have talked to dad and he said I can if I take it easy. Also quite a few people from my school go to gymnastics now and only 2 year 8 girls can get into the team. There is about 7 of us. I need to go to gymnastics to practice and then hopefully I will get in.
